Chief of the Traffic Safety Department in Lam Dong Province, Nguyen Huu Thang, confirmed to local media on Monday that they've asked the Tai Thang Company to report on the case in which a driver of their passenger bus violated traffic laws.
"We also asked the company to immediately suspend the driver while awaiting further investigation and discussions with the local Department of Transport on a punishment for him," Thang said.
In a clip shared on many social websites since December 2, a driver of a Tai Thang 80-seated passenger bus was recorded enjoying a bowl of noodles while driving.
The video clip which lasted about two minutes showed the driver abandon the steering wheel to enjoy his noodles. He only used one hand to direct the wheel or press the horn when seeing an approaching vehicle.
The Facebook user who posted the clip said that he was one of the passengers and he shot the act while they were on a road in Ninh Thuan Province in the early morning of December 2.
"The clip went viral on the internet and we immediately found out that the bus was from Tai Thang Company and the driver was Ho Thanh Dan who was en route from Dalat to Hanoi," Thang said, adding that the driver's act posed danger to passengers and should be strictly punished.
