Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and a delegation from the Vietnamese Party and State laid a wreath in tribute to Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro at the Jose Marti Memorial in Havana right upon their arrival in Cuba on November 28.

The delegation included Nguyen Hanh Phuc, the NA General Secretary; Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Duong Minh; leaders of the Foreign Ministry, the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for External Relations, the PCC’s Office, the Presidential Office, the Government Office, the NA Office, the NA’s Committee for External Relations and the Construction Ministry; and other senior officials.
The Vietnamese delegation was the first high-level international delegation to Cuba to pay homage to comrade Fidel Castro.
Writing in the book of condolences, NA Chairwoman Ngan expressed the Vietnamese Party, State and people’s deep sorrow and infinite grief at the death of comrade Fidel Castro, a great leader of the Cuban revolution and a big friend, a fellow man and a faithful and sincere brother of the Vietnamese Party, State and people.
The Vietnamese Party, State and people will never forget comrade Fidel’s significant contributions to establishing and fostering the special brotherly relations, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between the Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba over the past five decades, she affirmed.
The NA leader reiterated Vietnam’s consistent solidarity towards Cuban brothers’ revolutionary cause as well as its determination to strengthen and deepen the special brotherly relations between the two countries.
Ngan also honoured comrade Fidel’s contributions to the movements of international communists and workers over the last half century, affirming that his name, great career and humane revolutionary ideology will live forever in the revolutionary cause of Cuba and Vietnam as well as in the hearts of progressive nations loving peace and justice across the world.
Later the same day, NA Chairwoman Ngan and the Vietnamese delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba and met with the Vietnamese community in Cuba.
