A poor man in the northern province of Phu Tho is facing the risk of death from heart disease as the problem has become critical but his family can’t afford to cover the treatment fees.
Taken to a provincial hospital some weeks ago, Le Huu Hung in Tam Nong District was diagnosed with serious cardiac valve problems of the heart, so was moved to Bach Mai Hospital.

Doctors at Bach Mai Hospital diagnosed that his two aortic valves are seriously damaged. This required him a surgery for the new valve replacement. However, the VND130-million fees for the surgery are beyond his family’s financial ability.
His wife Nguyen Thi Huong said that his husband had shown health problems for a long time, but due to the family’s financial difficulties, he hesitated to go to hospital for medical check-up and treatment.
Doctor Vien Hoang Long from Bach Mai Hospital who directly gives Hung the treatment said that only the surgery could save the patient as the heart problems were chronic. The hospital called on the public to help the family.

Now, the man is in too much pain that during the medicine transfusion, he can’t lie or sit down, but has to stand and put his hands on the sick-bed to fight against pains. He is weak and almost can’t speak.
He has often told his wife to take him home so that he could see his children for the last time.
