Police in the central city of Danang this morning detained a Chinese man after he was caught stealing VND400 million (USD17,901) on a flight to the city's airport.
Wang QingJia, 52, of Chinese nationality, was accused by security staff at Danang International Airport to steal the money from a Vietnamese passenger on a Vietnam Airlines flight departing from HCM City, according to local police.

While arranging hand luggage, Wang QingJia took the money from a bag of passenger Ngo Ngoc Thuan, 41. A passenger on the flight saw Wang QingJia and informed Thuan and the security team, police said.
Security staff at Danang airport checked Wang QingJia's suitcase when the plane landed at 7am and found the money. The man and the money have been sent to local police for further investigation.
