DTiNews readers have donated over VND82m (USD3,700) to help a mother in Hai Duong Province whose sons are both severely injured following traffic accidents.

Both sons of Do Thi Van had traffic accidents within a fortnight of each other.

Her youngest son Trinh Van An broke his jaw and suffered brain injuries after an accident on August 23. He has recovered but still needs another operation to fix the jaw.

Her eldest son Trinh Van Nhuong had an accident on September 8 and remains in critical condition after brain surgery.

Van takes care of Nhuong in hospital

Van is a farmer and had to borrow over VND100m (USD4,500) to pay hospital charges. After their story was published, many readers gave her VND20m.

"I can't remember how much I have paid for Nhuong's treatment. He doesn't have insurance so the cost was huge. As long as I live, I'll do everything to save him," she said.

Van receives donation

Van said she was grateful and happy when readers continued to donate VND82,180,000 through DTiNews.

"I didn't think that we'd receive so much help. I'm really happy to be able to keep Nhuong in hospital. I hope he'll wake up soon," she said.
