The central city of Danang is considering moving its agencies and departments out of a USD95-million administrative centre which was only put into operation in 2014.
The information was disclosed by the municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung at a meeting of the city people's council on August 11.

According to Dung, the building’s location has a detrimental effect on the city's traffic at peak hours. Its ventilation system has also showed problems, particularly during hot days.
Dung, however, noted that during the two-year operation, the building, which is home to the municipal People's Committee as well as 24 local agencies and departments with a total number of 1,600 staff, had played a positive role in the city's administrative reform efforts.
He also added that the people's committee has urged the building management board to deal with the building’s ventilation problems. If the situation still does not improve, relocation will be considered.
The administrative building is not only a workplace for the city's agencies and departments but also a symbol of Danang, so the city will have to seek public opinion for the relocation, Dung said.
The construction of Danang's administrative building started in November 2008 and was completed in September 2014. The building has 37 floors, and is designed to look like a lighthouse.
