Martial arts festival slated for Binh Dinh

The information was announced by the Binh Dinh People's Committee and provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on July 27. The festival will be held from August 2 to 4.

Nguyen Van Dung, director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the opening ceremony will showcase Binh Dinh Province’s martial arts. Binh Dinh martial art style was recognised as a national heritage in 2012.

Martial artists from the local and international teams will perform at the opening ceremony. Other exchange activities will be held at various headquarters of a particular martial arts style such as the Phi Long Vinh School at Long Phuoc Pagoda in Tuy Phuoc District.

The organisers also hold visits to cultural and tourism attractions of the province, photo exhibition and martial art competition.

Binh Dinh is one of Vietnam’s most well-known martial art styles and experienced its height during the Tay Son Dynasty, with enthusiasts including Emperor Quang Trung.

There are dozens of martial arts schools in Binh Dinh Province including Tinh Vo or Quan Khi and many of Vietnam martial art styles are being learnt in France, Russia, Germany and Spain.
