Candles lit for war dead

10,000 candles were lit at the Truong Son War Cemetery, the country's largest, on July 26 to mark the 69th War Invalids and Martyrs Day.

10,000 candles were lit at the Truong Son War Cemetery, the country's largest, on July 26 to mark the 69th War Invalids and Martyrs Day.

The event was held by the youth union in Quang Tri Province and the youth committees in military and political department and the youth union of Central Economic Enterprises.

Over 1,500 young people, heroic mothers and local people attended the event. Young people visited the Truong Son War Cemetery and a music show.

The organisers also awarded three charity houses to families that contributed to the war and the invalids. 20 gifts were given to disadvantaged families and 10 gifts to poor children who have high academic achievements in Quang Tri Province.
