Danang City's People Committee has decided to ban 22 tourist boats from operating on the Han River.

The local authority informed the local Border Guard Command which would be assigned to gather and monitor the boats until further directions from the committee.
The decision came after a recent investigation on the operation of all tourist boats on the Han River following the capsizing of Thao Van 2 boat on June 4 which killed three passengers.
Vice director of Danang Tourism Department, Tran Chi Cuong claimed his department had done a thorough check-up on the operation of all the boats and only 11 met requirements.
"We've installed cameras on these 11 boats to monitor their operations," Cuong said.
The committee has also asked local police to closely supervise all tourist boats on Han River to ensure tourist safety.
The overcrowded Thao Van 2 tourist boat sank in the Han River, Danang City, on June 4 with 56 passengers on board. A man and two children were killed and many passengers were injured.
In 2014, the Thao Van 2 sank when carrying 10 tourists on the Han River, all of them were rescued.
A large number of tourist boats currently in operation in Vietnam are ill-equipped. Boats often lack enough emergency equipment to ensure passenger safety such as life jackets or fire safety equipment.
Over the past seven years 23 tourism boat accidents have occurred in Ha Long Bay, with 11 vessels sunk and 12 boat fires killing dozens of passengers, mostly foreigners.
