Vietnam Airlines has only issued an apology to passengers on the Hanoi-Danang flight which had to land at Vientiane Airport in Laos due to bad weather.

Danang to Hanoi flight diverted to Laos due to bad weather
"Vietnam Airlines has carried out necessary measures to ensure passenger safety. We would also hope that passengers appreciate this unexpected situation," said a Vietnam Airlines representative.
However, there was no mention of any compensation for the passengers.
On June 7, a flight from Danang to Hanoi had to divert to Laos at 4pm because of bad weather. The flight was continually delayed after the crew claimed it needed maintenance and refuelling. The delay was prolonged after notice came in that the plane had another technical problem and needed repairs.
When the plane was ready it was 10.45pm and many passengers refused to board due to flight safety concerns. The captain was able to persuade over 100 passengers on board and 102 passengers chose to stay. The flight originally left Danang at 4pm and finally arrived in Hanoi at 1.40am. During the nine and a half hour marathon, Vietnam Airlines only provided a hamburger to each passenger.
Vietnam Airlines sent another plane to Laos to bring the rest of the passengers to Hanoi at 11.50am on the same day
