Vietnam Airlines posts 60m Q1 profits

The carrier transported nearly 4.6 million passengers in 34,500 flights during the first quarter, 11.6 per cent higher than its target, the report said. 

According to the national flag carrier, they have benefited from the stable macro economy in the first quarter. Low fuel prices and stable foreign currency exchange rates in their main markets also contributed to the results.

The number of foreign visitors to Vietnam has increased by 20 per cent compared to the same period last year, at 2.46 million, with nearly 2 million travelling by air.

Vietnam Airlines Chairman Pham Viet Thanh, recently said the company aims to transport 19.2 million passengers, a 10.6 per cent increase against 2015, with revenue of $3.4 million and pre-tax profit of $102.2 million.
