A representative office of the Federal Agency for Tourism (FAT) of the Russian Federation in Southeast Asia, named ‘Visit Russia’, was officially opened at a ceremony held in Hanoi on April 14, opening up a new phase for tourism co-operation between Russia and Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Head of the FAT Sergey Kornevv noted that many Russian tourists now prefer safer, more affordable and warmer destinations in Southeast Asia to Egypt and Turkey due to security reasons.
In addition, Vietnam, a traditional friend of Russia, is emerging as a popular host thanks to potentials in resort and sea tourism, Kornevv added.
He said that relevant agencies of Russia and Vietnam will work with each other on visa procedures to facilitate the travel of visitors from both countries.
According to Alexander Basov from the FAT, outstanding tours in Russia, which are cheaper than other tours in Europe, have been introduced.
Kornevv affirmed that the representative office marked the development of Russia and regional countries in tourism and culture and its presence will open a new chapter in promoting tourism between Russia and Southeast Asian nations.
The office, located at 49 Hai Ba Trung Str. in Hanoi, is the eighth representative of the FAT in the world, together with other branches in Finland, Germany, China, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Iran and Kuwait.
