Flights cancelled as fog covers airports

Dozens of flights from the northern port city of Haiphong’s Cat Bi Airport in Haiphong City and Quang Binh Province’s Dong Hoi Airport have been cancelled over the past couple of days because of heavy fog.

Many flights delayed

Vietnam Airlines admitted it could not operate a normal schedule on March 18. It had to cancel eight flights on Danang-Haiphong and HCM City-Haiphong routes and delay three other flights. A total of 1,268 passengers have been affected. Vietnam Airlines increased six more flights on Danang-Hanoi and HCM City-Hanoi routes to deal with the inconvenienced passengers.

Vietjet Air cancelled three flights. Two other flights from HCM City to Haiphong had to land at Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport due to bad weather. Many other flights were also delayed.

Passengers who had flights cancelled were quickly moved onto subsequent flights. Vietjet Air notified passengers via SMS and phone calls.

Flight to and from Haiphong as well as other provinces in the central region are often affected by bad weather in March and April. Airliners advised passengers to often check out their notifications for any changes in regarded to their flights.
