Construction began on March 14 on three classrooms in the mountainous province of Yen Bai's Van Chan District funded by Dan Tri (DTiNews) Newspaper.
The USD26,900 project was funded through the newspaper’s Compassionate Hearts Charity Fund and donors including the Golden Gate Company, Tan A Dai Thanh Group and Amway.
The ground-breaking ceremony held on March 14.
The new classrooms will replace four deteriorating rooms at Son Luong Commune's eight-classroom nursery school.
After an article published on Dan Tri about the school, readers and the donor-organisations contributed to the new classroom construction through the newspaper's Compassionate Hearts Charity Fund.
Headmaster of the school Nguyen Thi Bich Huong said Son Luong Nursery School was set up in 2010 with all the students from poor ethnic minority families.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Deputy Editor-in-chief of Dan Tri Pham Tuan Anh said the new classrooms will partially help to improve conditions at Son Luong Nursery School. Construction is slated to take two months.

DTiNews has already built three classrooms in Yen Bai Province and five in Son La Province worth nearly VND2.1 billion.
DTiNews has also worked with donors to 10 bridges across the country and provided 500,000 notebooks to students nationwide a part of a national campaign to provide a million books to pupils.
