Vietnam sent more than 8,600 labourers to work abroad in the first month of 2016, equivalent to 8.63% of the year’s target and 99.52% compared to the same period of last year, according to the Overseas Labour Management Department under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA).
Vietnam’s labour export is expected to see continuous growth in 2016.
Chinese Taipei remained the largest recipient of Vietnamese employees with 5,362 workers, followed by Japan with over 2,000, Malaysia with 530, Saudi Arabia with 129 and the Republic of Korea (RoK) with 68.
Vietnam’s labour export is expected to see continuous growth in 2016 as the labour co-operation agreements signed in 2015 are implemented.
Last year, MOLISA negotiated to sign and got down to realising a special memorandum of understanding with the RoK on sending and receiving Vietnamese workers according to the EPS Programme, while signing bilateral labour co-operation agreements with Thailand and Malaysia.
Regarding markets requiring qualified labourers, along with a co-operative programme on sending nurses to Japan, the ministry also signed a letter of intent on fielding employees to work in caring for the elderly in Germany, which offers a good opportunity to increase the number of Vietnam’s qualified labourers working in the country to 500-700 people per year.
Notably, Chinese Taipei, the largest market for Vietnamese employees, has also resumed reception of Vietnamese labourers working as sailors aboard off-shore fishing boats and family nurses.
