A group of students in the central city of Hue have organised a charitable Hug Me campaign to raise funds to help disadvantaged children in remote areas.
During the record-breaking bone-chilling weather, students in Hue launched their campaign on January 24, offering hugs for a VND5,000 donation. The students come from several local universities.
The donations will help poor people in Atieng Commune, Tay Giang District, Quang Nam Province. This is the first time the students have organised such an event.
Hoang Ngoc Hai, a student from Hue Sciences University, said that despite standing in the rain and cold for many hours in the Imperial Citadel, the group really felt happy as they were contributing to helping poor children. Hai said the hugs had great meaning, and were a way of showing support for the less fortunate.
The students plan to expand this campaign to other places in the city.
