A father from the H'Mong ethnic group in Yen Bai Province needs help to save his two-year-old daughter from cancer of the retina.

Giang Thi Thuy Bang has tumours in both eyes and may lose her right eye.
"We hope to save her left eye with laser and chemotherapy," said Pham Thi Minh Chau from the National Hospital of Pediatrics in Hanoi. "Retina cancer is a bit different from other types of cancer. If she is not treated promptly, her chance to live is not very high."

Chau said the surgery to cut out the right eye is free because Bang is under five years old and of an ethnic group. However, the family cannot afford the travel and accommodation costs from Yen Bai Province to Hanoi, and many of the medicines are not covered by health insurance.
"She is probably going to die because we don't have money," said Bang's father, Giang A The.
