The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security has uncovered a group of secondary pupils who were behind the creation of a fake Islamic State (IS) Facebook account.
Three pupils from Binh Dinh Province’s Vo Xan Secondary School and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School were found to be responsible.

They event used Google’s translation tool to write threatening statuses in Arabic, making many people to frightened about the risk to Vietnam. Many Vietnamese people also commented on the page to insult IS. The pupils used a photo of a well-known IS member as the facebook page’s profile file.
Under the instruction of Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, the Internet Security Department discovered the masterminds behind the page were three students in Binh Dinh and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, the pupils aged between 13 and 17 created the page to attract the attention of the Internet community, following the Islamic State’s attacks on Paris that killed at least 129 people and injured hundreds of others on November 13. The students apologised and said they wouldn’t do it again.
