Severe floods in the central region left at least seven people dead and one missing, according to the Department of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control in Danang.

Khanh Hoa Province has been hardest hit. Two adults and four children died after being swept into manholes or channels, while one is believed to be missing. Nearly 80,000 shrimp were swept lost and Phu Kieng wooden bridge in Nha Trang was swept away.

Phu Yen Province saw one dead. While 11 households on the coast were badly affected after a 1.2 kilometre landslide struck the coastline at Tuy Hoa City.

Dinh Van Dien, chairman of Canh Lien Commune in Binh Dinh Province, said the four days of continuous rain from November 1 to 4 caused landslides and blocked the main routes into the province, while water pipes were also damaged.
It is forecast that heavy rains will continue to fall on central provinces and water level at rivers from the provinces of Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa will rise.
