Well-known Vietnamese actress Kim Cuong worked with fellow artists and HCM City authorities to hold a group wedding for 40 disabled couples on October 20.

Kim Cuong has taken part in many charity activities and the idea of a group wedding came up after she heard a disabled man's story.

Her friend, Kim Tuyen, is the owner of a wedding dress shop. According to her, a young man would often come to stare at the dresses in the window. When asked, he said holding a wedding ceremony was a dream he and his wife never thought would come true.

Cuong then asked the local Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to help invite disabled people with disadvantaged backgrounds to a group wedding. Kim Cuong and her friends spent three months to prepare for the event. Each couple were given rings and could invite their relatives to the wedding.

"For many years, I've helped disabled people with gifts and vocational training. But everyone wants to have a wedding day," she said.

Many singers and well-known actors including Dam Vinh Hung, Cao My Kim and Bach Cong Khanh also came and supported the event with free performances at Him Lam Palace.
