Chinese President Xi Jinping
It would be Xi's first visit to Singapore since becoming the President of China. He had previously visited the Southeast Asian country in 2010 as Vice-President.
During Zhang’s working visit, he and his Singaporean counterpart co-chaired the 12th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC), the 17th China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Joint Steering Council and the Eighth Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (SSTEC) Joint Steering Council meetings.
At the meetings, the two sides discussed measures to strengthen cooperation in existing fields and further expand bilateral ties, including the proposed third government-to-government project in China's western region and the upgrade of the China-Singapore free trade agreement.
They are expected to sign several bilateral cooperation agreements.
