According to the list released by Forbes on September 29, Hoang Kieu ranked 149th with a fortune worth USD3.8 billlion. He is also the richest among 25 newcomers on this year’s list.

Hoang Kieu was born in Vietnam and moved to the US in 1975 when he was 31 years old. He previously served in the US Special Forces during the American War.

He worked for Abbott Laboratories for five years before establishing the company specialising in producing plasma, Shanghai RAAS Blood Products, in 1989.

With total revenues of USD214 million and the market capitalisation of USD17.7 billion, the company was ranked 20th on Forbes Most Innovative Companies list and named in Forbes’ Asia's 200 Best Under A Billion in 2015.

He also owns RAAS Nutritional, a nutritious foods firm in China, and a red wine company in Napa Valley in the US. Hoang is known for having a high opinion of himself, branding bottles of wine with pictures of his own face.

According to the Forbes, Bill Gates continued to dominate the list for the 22nd year in a row with a USD76billion fortune, maintaining his number1 position despite losing USD5 billion from 2014.

He was followed by Warren Buffett with USD62 billion; Larry Ellison with USD47.5 billion. Meanwhile, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made it into the top 10 list for the first time with USD47 billion and USD43 billion respectively.
