The Thailand Trade Exhibition – Thailand Week 2015 opened in Hanoi on August 13, co-organised by the Department of International Trade Promotion under the Thai Ministry of Commerce and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in Hanoi in partnership with the Vietnam National Trade Fair&Advertising JSC.
Nearly 165 booths of Thai companies and agents are participating in the three-day event, showcasing high quality products popular in Thailand, including food and drinks, household products, textiles, jewelry, healthcare and beauty products, auto parts, decorative items, souvenirs, and electronics.
Along with exhibitions and trade activities by businesses and manufacturers, there are also cultural activities with the participation of traditional dancers from Thailand to introduce and promote the traditional culture value of the country to Vietnam.
Thailand Ambassador to Vietnam Panyarak Poolthup said that the event is the continuance of the Thailand Product Exhibition in Hanoi held continuously over the last 14 years. Thai investors and businesses have realised the potential of the growing Vietnamese market. This year’s event marks a new step in the development of economic-trade relations between the two countries to achieve the set target to raise bilateral trade turnover to US$20 billion in 2020.
According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, bilateral trade between the two countries has continually increased in recent years. In 2000, it was the first time two-way trade reached US$1 billion, reaching US$10.6 billion in 2014. In the first half of 2015, bilateral trade turnover between the two countries reached US$5.4 billion, up nearly US$1 billion over the same period last year.
