Those in attendance included 250 delegates, including numerous politicians, officials, and representatives from US social organizations and businesses from the two nations.
Vice President Joe Biden expressed the honor on behalf of the US Government to host the banquet, saying that the talks between Party chief and President Barack Obama were conducted in a frank, open and substantive manner, showing an overall vision for developing Vietnam-US relations in the time ahead.

Joe Biden hailed the fruitful cooperation between the two countries over the past two decades since the normalization of relations, saying bilateral relations have been moving on the right track in line with the context of the world situation and the need for the promotion of bilateral ties.
He also extolled the achievements both nations recorded in economics, trade, investment, education, science, post-war recovery, security- defence and voiced optimism about the bright future of the sound relations between Vietnam and the US.
Party General Secretary Trong thanked the US Government for their warm welcome given to him and his entourage while describing his first official visit to the US as specific results of the positive and rapid development of Vietnam-US ties.
Trong said that the two nations have come a long way during the 20 years of normalized relations and they are now having new opportunities for strengthening a comprehensive, substantive and efficient partnership in the interests of the two peoples, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region and the world as a whole.
Based on the achievements and lessons drawn from the past 20 years, the General Secretary expressed his confidence that Vietnam-US relations, built on the principle of mutual respect, respecting political institutions and interests of each other, will continue grow and flourish in the future.
