Vietnam targets gold at World Taekwondo Championships
The 12 members of the Vietnam National Taekwondo team have set their sights on gold at the upcoming 2015 World Taekwondo Championships set for May 12-18 in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
The 12 members of the Vietnam National Taekwondo team have set their sights on gold at the upcoming 2015 World Taekwondo Championships set for May 12-18 in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
The team is pinning their hopes for silverware on star martial artists Nguyen Trong Cuong and Nguyen Van Duy, which would give the team a leg up in next summer’s Olympic Games in Brazil.
The Vietnamese athletes will compete in 8 categories of both men and women’s events – fin weight (-54kg), flyweight (-58kg), bantamweight (-63kg), featherweight (-68kg), lightweight (-74kg), welterweight (-80kg), middleweight (-87kg) and heavyweight (+87kg).
At the last World Taekwondo Championships held two years ago in Mexico, Vietnam did not win any medals.
