One person was killed and four others seriously injured in a collision between a train and a truck in central Quang Tri Province late last night (March 10).
The accident occurred at 22:30p.m as the truck entered a crossing on the North-South Railway at Thuong Xa Village, Hai Thuong Commune, Hai Lang District.
Three carriages were derailed. The truck was split in two.

Initial reports said the train driver was killed in the collision, which also left three passengers and the truck driver seriously injured.

The line was cleared by early this morning (March 11), with hundreds of passengers taken to Dong Ha Station in Thua-Thien Hue Province.
A recent collision between a train running on the North-South Railway and a truck in Ham Tan District, Binh Thuan Province, resulted in serious injuries and closed the line for hours.
Vietnam Railway said there were 388 railway accidents in 2014, with 161 fatalities and 256 injuries, mostly densely-populated areas of Hanoi, Nghe An, Dong Nai and Khanh Hoa.
