Collapsed tunnel incident: trapped workers got out safe

Twelve workers were successfully brought out of the collapsed tunnel at the construction site of the Da Dang-Da Chomo hydropower plant by 4:30 pm on December 19.

Twelve workers were successfully brought out of the collapsed tunnel at the construction site of the Da Dang-Da Chomo hydropower plant by 4:30 pm on December 19.

They had been trapped in the tunnel in Pang Tieng village, Lat commune, Lac Duong district, Central Highlands Lam Dong province since December 16.

According to health officials at the site, the workers, including a woman, are in stable health condition, and are receiving first-aid services.

Two of them were sent to a nearby hospital while others are currently in stable health condition.

Doctors and more than 10 ambulances were available at the scene of the hydropower plant accident to deal with emergency cases.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of rescue workers, the workers got out of the collapsed tunnel earlier than scheduled.

Family members and friends of the trapped workers who had been waiting for a long time outside burst into tears when they saw the workers successfully being rescued.
