HCM City hosts international forum on poverty reduction

During the three-day event, participants will share experience, research and solutions for sustainable poverty reduction in countries in the region and the world over.

Professor Ly Hoang Anh, Director of the HCM City Banking University, said poverty strikes all continents at different levels. Developing countries are facing a number of challenges to find solutions to the urgent issue.

At the forum, scholars and professors from domestic and foreign universities and institutes will discuss cooperative programmes and build sustainable poverty reduction strategies, Anh said.

Professor Hj Ibrahim Che Omar, Chairman of the RENPER Council, said poverty is a global issue. People from all walks of life should join hands to eradicate poverty in each country and the world as well. The establishment of RENPER contributes to raising public awareness and involvement in poverty reduction.

Established in 2010, RENPER is a forum of universities in Southeast and Southern Asia with primary concern for poverty alleviation throughout the world in general, and within the region in particular.
