Other sailors on the boat said that they saw the Vietnamese crew members, aged between 18 and 23, jump into the sea some 18 km from Esanmisaki, Hokkaido on the evening October 11.

The Japan Times reported that a body was found floating about 5 km off the coast of the village of Kazamaura, Aomori Prefecture, on Sunday afternoon, according to the JCG. Although the body appears to be that of a man, it has not been identified as one of the six suspected of jumping overboard from the 2,944-tonne vessel.

There were abnormalities or trouble reported on the ship before the incident occurred.
