A poor couple in Nghe An Province is seeking support to save their little girl from eye cancer.
The little girl is facing eye cancer
Le Thi Huong, and her husband, Nguyen Du Thu, from Qunh Luu District got married three years ago. They met in the southern province of Binh Thuan where they both worked. At that time, Thu worked as a porter and his wife as a teacher with modest incomes.
In 2013, they decided to return to their home town of Nghe An after giving birth to a daughter named Nguyen Le An Mi in December 2012.
After An Mi was born, the mother detected something unusual in her daughter’s left eye which looked paler than the right. However, it didn't seem very serious to her so she did not take the baby to the hospital.
After Tet this year, she decided to leave her daughter at home with her parents while she went to Binh Thuan to work as a teacher because it was difficult to find a job in Nghe An.
She returned home to visit her family at the end of May and immediately noticed her daughter’s left eye.

The couple took the little girl to Nghe An Paediatrics Hospital where doctors said that her condition was very serious. They advised the parents to take their child to Hanoi for further treatment.
Doctors at the National Institute of Ophthalmology in Hanoi diagnosed her with eye cancer. Still the condition may end up being fatal.
She had to undergo surgery to remove her left eye in order to save the right.
The young mother had to stop working this school year to stay at home and take care of her daughter. Despite the difficulties, the couple tried to save her remaining eye.
To date, the two-year-old girl has gone through radiation treatment only four out of the 12 required times. After the radiation, she must be taken to the hospital every month for five years.
