Hanoi is going to host the Monsoon Music Festival at the beginning of October, with the participation of some well-known rock bands from foreign countries.

Acts from many countries, including the UK, France, Belgium and Japan will perform. Carpark North, a Danish electronic rock band, will open the festival. The band has been in the industry for 15 years, won numerous awards awards and has a large following in Denmark.

Another highlight of the festival is the performance of Yi Sung Yol. Even though the South Korean music industry is dominated by pop bands, Yi Sung Yol's newest album released in 2013 topped the Naver Music Album of the Year category. The album received four nominations at the Korean Music Awards in 2014.

Several Vietnamese acts will also attend the festival, including Buc Tuong, KOP and Ngu Cung. Ngu Cung plays a type of progressive rock with a hard edge. They have hopes of popularising rock music in Vietnam. Some of their songs are a fusion between rock and traditional musics.

In recent years, the number of rock fans in Vietnam has increased. This can be seen by the crowds that attended Ngu Cung and KOP shows.

Quoc Trung, music director of the festival, said 'monsoon' means change. He hopes the festival would help to build a more professional and open music industry in Vietnam. In addition to rock bands, audiences will be able to enjoy performances of other well-known musicians such as Thanh Lam and Rhasody Philhamornic.

During the festival, musicians will also attend other activities, such as one raising awareness for environment protection and performing in street music events.

The Monsoon Music Festival will be held in front of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long on October 2.
