Tan said in its development strategy Russia gives priority to strengthening traditional partnership with Vietnam and other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which is considered a dynamic development region.

Over the past years, Vietnam-ASEAN-Russia cooperative relations have not yet matched their potential, especially in the fields of economics, trade, culture, education, and science-technology, he added.
The upcoming seminar will create a forum for participants to evaluate prospects for comprehensive cooperation between ASEAN and Russia, with Vietnam acting as a coordinator.
They will work out priority areas for cooperation, solutions and recommendations to lift the relationship to a higher level, giving impetus to stronger development and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the Asia-Pacific region and the world as a whole.
The seminar will have three main sessions, with the first focusing on the importance of Vietnam-ASEAN and Russia relations, history and the present development of their cooperative ties, and prospects and measures to boost the relationship.
The second session will examine economic-related issues between Vietnam-ASEAN and Russia, and the third one will touch upon their cooperation in culture, education and training, and science-technology.
The seminar is expected to be attended by State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh, Russian experts, and representatives from ASEAN member countries, and regional organizations, ministries, central agencies, and research institutes nationwide.
