The recoganition was made August 27, in India, following the proposal by the Vietnam Records Organisation.
Cao Vien is 106 years old and his wife, Vu Thi Hai, is 100. They live in Village 2, Dien Chau District. According to the Vietnam Records Organisation, they are both still healthy and alert. Cao Vien wrote a poem for the organisation.

On the same occasion, Asia’s Oldest Lady was granted to, Nguyen Thi Tru, 121, from HCM City. She is the oldest living person on record in Vietnam.

Tru was first recognised as the oldest person in the country in 2011. She has 10 children, only three which are still living. She now lives with the family of her 72-year-old youngest son.
These two titles are expected to be officially presented at the upcoming 29th meeting of Vietnamese record-breakers in HCM City.
