Truck accident leaves four dead

An accident in Long An Province this morning, July 17, killed four and injured eight passengers of a minibus.

An accident in Long An Province this morning, July 17, killed four and injured eight passengers of a minibus.

At around 5:30am, a 16-seat minibus, en route from Tien Giang Province to HCM City, crashed into a trailer truck while traveling at a high speed on the HCM City-Trung Luong Highway.

The crash destroyed the front of the minibus, immediately killing the two passengers sitting closest to the driver. The driver himself was not killed. Rescuers had to use crowbars to get inside and help the passengers. Doctors at Cho Ray Hospital said two other passengers died later and the other eight are receiving treatment.

Long An provincial police arrived at the scene and are investigating the cause of the collision.
