Authorities from the Paracels have made a proposal to buy a ship that was recovered after being sunken by Chinese ships to make a display in the district's Exhibition Centre.
Sunken ship recovered
Vo Cong Chanh, Chairman of the district People’s Committee, recently led a delegation to study the ship. They confirmed that the ship had been rammed and sunken by Chinese vessels.
The exhibition of the downed ship would be to expose violent intrusions by the Chinese in Vietnamese waters.
“We strongly oppose such aggressive actions, infringing Vietnam’s territorial waters. They have not only caused tensions in the area, but serious damage to Vietnamese property within Vietnamese waters," said Chanh.
Dang Cong Ngu, former chairman of the Hoang Sa District Island, proposed that the district government buy the damaged ship for display at the district Exhibition Centre as an evidence to denounce Chinese violations.

“The sight of the ship would a real testament to the fact that Vietnamese people are not the aggressors in this situation," Chanh noted.
Huynh Thi Nhu Hoa, the owner of the ship, said that with the support of the district authorities and private sources, she plans to build a new ship for continued operations in the sea in the near future.
