Many donors have given a combined VND50 million (USD2,367) to a desperate family in the southern city of Can Tho, in which all the members suffer from serious diseases.
Buu's family receives donations
On April 14, a DTiNews reporter visited the family of Nguyen Thi Oc Buu some time after publishing their story in early April. The reporter handed over the VND35 million (USD1,657) that was donated by DTiNews readers to the family.
Buu is said to have looked tired, as she just returned home from hospital a few days before. She had just taken her youngest son, Duy Khang, home from the hospital, where he had spent one week because of complications of his brain disease.
Her husband, Tran Thanh Sang, also had medical problems, but has since received an operation with the funding borrowed from some kind readers of DTiNews. Due to his serious condition, he had to return to hospital recently for further treatment. Currently, he is still on medication.
Buu and one of her children named Thanh Hien have found jobs as a worker at a company in the southern province of Binh Duong.
“We’ve received donations worth around VND20 million (USD947.19) from many kind-hearted people across the country. The money has helped cover our medical expenses and settle our debts. We would like to send our warmest thanks to these kind people,” Buu said.
She intends to use a part from the newly-granted funding to repair their house so that her husband and their two children will have proper accommodation while she works in Binh Duong.
