Although almost any place in Hanoi can be romantic given the right companion, some are just a bit more so than others. We have compiled a short list of popular spots, whether you are on an exciting first date or you want to pop the question.
“South Korea Road"
The “South Korea Road" is located on the banks of West Lake with an open and romantic space which affords a view of the lotuses and the water park with its towering ferries wheel.
It is also famous for the graffiti bearing declarations of love drawn by couples. It is called “South Korea Road" for its aesthetic, which many find close to that shown in Korean films.

Long Bien Bridge
Long Bien Bridge is also a popular place for young couples in Hanoi on Valentines’ Day. The old bridge is near a reed field, creating a romantic spot for dates.
Couples often walk along the bridge and take photos. Many record their memories by writing their names and attaching a love lock to the bridge. Hopefully these couples often return back to see them, and not cut them off.
Some people say they see a similarity to France’s Pont des Arts Bridge.

Cau Tinh Lake
This small body of water is near Gia Lam Station and has recently been renovated. The lake area looks like a mininature European street, with rows of houses built close together reflected in the water.
The bending road makes the area more beautiful. Many young people walk or cycle around the lake.

Trade, entertainment centres
Trade and entertainment centres such as Time City, Royal City, Vincom Ba Trieu, are a more modern favourite among young couples on Valentines’ Day. They enjoy food and entertainment offered by these facilities. Royal City in particular has tried to create a romantic space, emulating South Korean films and is complete with an with ice rink.

Cafés and cinemas
These are quite popular places among Vietnamese on Valentines’ Day. On the evening of February 14, cinemas are very crowded, with many selling out of tickets. So be careful to book well in advance.
Cafés tend to put up Valentine's Day decorations to make for a warmer atmosphere, even during cold weather.
