A poor family in the central province of Nghe An has four members who suffer from the effects of dioxin, while the remaining one is suffering from serious injuries after a traffic accident.
The dioxin victims are the husband, the three children and the wife is the traffic accident victim.

Mr. Hoa and his children
Pains
In January 1972, Le Van Hoa joined the army. He was 20 years old. In May 1976, he returned home and got married to Nguyen Thi Tuyet, one year younger than him. The couple has since then lived in Cau Giat Town, Quynh Luu District, Nghe An Province.
During the war, he was affected by AO/dioxin, but was unaware this until his wife gave birth.
Their eldest child, Le Van Cuong, 34 years old, was born with shoulder deformity. Despite this and the hardship of Cuong's family, a local girl sympathised with his condition and married him.
In 1982, the couple had their second son, Le Van Viet. Viet, who developed normally and achieved good marks at primary and secondary schools.
Nonetheless, at the age of 13, he suddenly showed unusual signs, such as shaking. He has was forced to stop his studies and remains bedridden.

Mr. Hoa’s wife after the traffic accident
The couple’s third child, Le Thi Hoa, was born in 1984. The girl’s health also seemed normal until she reached the fourth grade. She now suffers from mental illness.
The couple sold most of their assets to take their children's treatment, going to various hospitals around the country. The treatments have not seemed to do much good and they are desperate.
Another terrible blow to the family was when Mr. Hoa, the family pillar, fell ill. His limbs suddenly tremble and had the signs of myasthenia, particularly he lost his entire memory. He needs help to get around and constantly says, "Comrades, please, help me…!”
His wife had to try her best to support the family of ailing members. But unluckily, one day when she was collecting scraps, she met a traffic accident. As a result, she had her right arm cut, while suffering from many serious injuries, including brain.
