The 13th International Agriculture Trade Fair (Agroviet 2013) opens on November 14 with the participation of over 350 stalls from 200 local and foreign enterprises.

The opening ceremony
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vu Van Tam, said, “Vietnam’s agricultural exports have been on the rise in recent years. The country’s agricultural products have been exported to 128 countries worldwide.”
According to Tam, Vietnam made agricultural export revenues of USD27.5 billion last year and the sector gained a trade surplus of USD10.6 billion, as well as exported USD22.7 billion worth of agricultural products during the first ten months of this year, making the sector’s trade surplus come to USD7.4 billion.
Still, agriculture in Vietnam is faced with several challenges, and market development is considered the most important task towards development. Trade promotion in general, and Agroviet in particular, are playing an essential role in boosting product sales.

A wide range of agricultural products on display at Agroviet 2013
With the theme “Toward safe and sustainable agriculture”, Agroviet 2013 has attracted a lot of booths from foreign countries, such as the Netherlands, Poland, Mexico, China, South Africa and Romania.
Displays ranged from agro-forestry-fishery products, fine arts, seeds and animal breeding, mechanical equipment and machines, production, processing and preservation technologies.
The fair is expected to create a chance for producers and enterprises to exchange experience, gain access to advanced technology and enhance their competitiveness. The event should be a bridge between products and consumers to help promote Vietnamese agricultural products domestically and internationally.
