10-tonne whale stranded in Soc Trang

Fishermen and authorities in Vinh Chau town of southern Soc Trang province are trying to rescue a 10-tonne whale that became stranded on October 11.

Fishermen and authorities in Vinh Chau town of southern Soc Trang province are trying to rescue a 10-tonne whale that became stranded on October 11.

The whale is around 12 metres long and two metres wide.

Local police and border guards have been mobilised to maintain security and help the whale return to the ocean.

However, a burning sun and low tide are hampering rescue efforts. The whale died at around 7pm.
