He is accompanied by Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Education and Training, National Defence, and Public Security, as well as other leaders of several cities and provinces.

This is Sang’s first ever visit to the US in his capacity of Vietnamese President.

The visit takes place at a time when Vietnam-US relations are faring well, especially in economics, trade, investment, science-technology, and education.

In the context of global complications and slow economic recovery, Asia and the Pacific has emerged as the world’s most dynamic region, and strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and the US is of more paramount importance.

Sang’s visit aims to concretise Vietnam’s open foreign policy and raise its position in the region and in relations with big countries in the world, including the US.

In an interview granted to the media, Vietnamese ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong said it’s time to form a new partnership framework between Vietnam and the US.

Vietnam wants to boost relations with the US, especially in economics, trade, the expansion of export markets, investment attraction, and science-technology.
