With the theme of “Strengthening transparency, public integrity and accountability, and minimising corruption”, VACI 2013 was jointly launched by the Government Inspectorate, the World Bank and several other co-sponsors last November.

Each winning project will receive a grant up to VND300 million (USD14,309) based on its proposal to implement the project nationwide next year. Total funding for the initiatives this year had reached VND6.6 billion (USD314,810).

The winning proposals were selected based on their ability to make practical contributions to anti-corruption work.

Deputy Chief Government Inspector Tran Duc Luong said that the government regarded the fight against corruption as a major campaign which should involve all sections of society. The government is focusing on strengthening transparency and accountability in response to the campaign.

However, corruption situation remains rife, and remains a major issue of public concern, he added.

The event was organised by the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam, the World Bank and co-sponsored bythe Australian Agency for International Development, Irish Aid, the Swedish Embassy, and the UK Department for International Development.
