Telecommunication officials and managers from Southeast Asian countries convened at the TELSOM-ATRC Leaders Retreat in Haiphong city on April 11.
The two-day event forms part of the information and communication technology (ICT) cooperation framework among ASEAN countries.
Delegates evaluated the implementation of ICT projects in the region and mapped out an overall plan for ICT development until 2015.
They also made proposals to be submitted to the ASEAN ICT Ministerial Meeting, scheduled for later this year.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Tran Duc Lai highlighted the achievements in ICT development in the Southeast Asian region.
He stressed the need to allocate appropriate resources to prioritised projects in order to realize the design plan through to 2015, in accordance with the Cebu Declaration that was approved by regional ministers during the TELMIN ASEAN 12 in the Philippines last November.
