Doi Duong Park’s parking lot overcrowded in hot days

The lives of people in provinces from Binh Thuan to Khanh Hoa as well as HCM City, Dong Nai and Binh Duong Province have been upset due to hot weather.

Over the past recent few days, the temperature in Khanh Hoa Province’s Nha Trang City, Ninh Thuan Province’s Phan Rang – Thap Cham City and Binh Thuan Province’s Phan Thiet City reached around 32-33 degrees Celsius right from the morning. The temperature reached approx 35 degree Celsius at noon.

Phan Van Huynh, a man who travelled from Tien Giang Province to Ninh Thuan Province for sightseeing said he has had to delay his journey to Vinh Hy Bay due to scorching sun.

At two wholesale markets of Phan Rang and Thanh Son in Ninh Thuan Province, people rushed to market in early morning in order to avoid the blazing sun then.

Nha Trang, where often has the most moderate weather in the central region, was also under the burning sun for recent few days.

Hundreds of people flocked to parks along Tran Phu Street for fresh air.

Doi Duong Park in Phan Thiet City was overcrowded in the afternoons of March 30-31. All parking lots in the areas were full by 4pm.

Trinh Van Xuan, who works at the park’s parking lot, said the place was continuously overloaded in recent few days despite its capacity of housing up to 700 motorbikes and 300 bikes.

Hot weather has facilitated the development of several seasonal diseases such as respiratory diseases and diarrhoea.

Increasing ill children hospitalised while more people go out to take the air

A doctor from Khanh Hoa General Hospital’s Paediatrics Ward said the hospital reported a sharp increased in the number of respiratory patients for recent few days. The number of child patients reached 220, compared to only 120 sickbeds.

Doctor Thai Phuong Phien, Deputy Director of Ninh Thuan General Hospital, said the number of people who were hospitalised for diarrhoea, fever and high temperature has been on the rise for recent four to five days.

In HCM City, the number of children suffering from hand-foot-mouth disease has been increasing, reaching 156 cases last week, up 26% from the previous week.

Dr. Tran Phu Manh Sieu, Director of HCM City’s Preventive Medicine Centre, said the city has recorded 648 diarrhoea patients, 1,668 dengue fever patients, 1,343 hand-foot-mouth patients, and 109 patients of chicken-pox.

The Southern Hydro-meteorology Station forecast that the scorching sun will continue to strike HCM City and surrounding areas up to the second half of May, with temperatures reaching 37 degrees Celsius.
