The decision by the US Department of Commerce (DOC) which imposes anti-dumping taxes on Vietnamese frozen tra fish is unfair, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi.

In the past seven administrative reviews, the US DOC has recognised that Indonesia's economy was different from Vietnam's.
However, in the latest administrative review, the US DOC chose Indonesia to replace Bangladesh as a benchmark country, which will affect anti-dumping duties on Vietnam's frozen fish imports.
The new tax rates will be ten times more than in previous years. 16 fishery companies in Vietnam will suffer these anti-dumping duties imposed on them.
At the Foreign Ministry’s regular press meeting on March 21 Nghi said, “We have affirmed many times that Vietnam hasn't committed any dumping in our frozen fish exports to the US."
He said bilateral commercial relations should be fairly established on WTO standards.
The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors also strongly opposed the decision and said they were considering the possibility of bringing the case to the US federal commercial court.
