Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan agreed with a proposal of the Ministry of Health (MoH) to launch the Action Month for Food Hygiene and Safety which will run from April 15 to May 15, 2013.
The event targets to encourage 80% of enterprises which have collective kitchens to sign commitments to fully comply with the regulations on food hygiene and safety.
The MoH is in charge of finalizing a PM’s draft instruction on enhancing food hygiene and reporting it to the Government chief prior to March 25.
The ministry will have to take measures to fundamentally resolve food poisoning in collective kitchens.
Local health departments were assigned to request enterprise owners to evaluate the observation of the regulations on food hygiene and safety.
Last year, the PM approved the National strategy on food hygiene for the 2011-2020 period with a vision towards 2030 which highlights the importance of ensuring the rights and health for consumers and responsibilities of food producers and entrepreneurs.
The strategy also aims to reduce 25% of severe food poisoning cases by 2015.
