Coffee shops in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province have been left deserted after a recent inspection trip conducted by the provincial party committee secretary.

The local public have recently raised concern over the ineffective work of state employees.
Quang Binh Province has also suffered from high rates of state employee absenteeism as office workers prefer spending time drinking during the daytime.
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Luong Ngoc Binh and the local Department of Internal Affairs Nguyen Van Son along with some other officials inspected local coffee shops in Dong Hoi City, and saw state employees relaxing and chatting.
An owner of a coffee shop in the province said many state employees drank coffee during their working time, but after the inspection, the number of coffee shop’s customers had sharply decreased.

Speaking with DTiNews, the provincial party committee secretary Luong Ngoc Binh said after the authorities had issued a warning to the violators. Later, they would issue strict punishment for any violator even if they were relatives of officials.
“It is unacceptable for state employees to take advantage of their working time for entertainment activities. These people will be seriously punished to set a lesson for other people,” the official emphasised.
