Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the pledge at a reception for visiting Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic in Hanoi on February 28.

Dung said that Vietnam always bears in mind the effective assistance offered by Serbia during its national liberation and reunification in the past, as well as its ongoing support during the nation’s construction and development, adding that Mrkic’s visit will help to strengthen the bilateral ties.

He called for both sides to soon sign an agreement on the encouragement and protection of investments and another on economic co-operation, while supporting each other at regional and international forums.

Mrkic congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic achievements and confirmed that Serbia always attaches importance to boosting relations with the country in all fields, and that he hopes to continue receiving Vietnam’s support at forums.

He said Serbia also backs PM Dung’s suggestions and urged the two sides to also sign a co-operation agreement on education and training.
