Ton Nu Thi Ninh, former Vietnamese Ambassador Belgium and Luxembourg, has received France’s most notable order for her outstanding contributions.

French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean-Noël Poirier presented her with the order on February 26 in HCM City.
Born on 1947, she was the chairwoman of the 11th National Assembly’s External Affairs Committee which had a special focus on North America and Western Europe.
After studying and working in France, she returned to Vietnam in 1972. After which she continued teaching at HCM City Teacher Training University. She also contributed to Vietnam’s participation in organisations such as the Non-Aligned Movement, ASEAN and the francophone world.
She became a politician in 2003. She was a National Assembly deputy between 2003 and 2007. Mrs. Ton Nu Thi Ninh has been continuously involved in gender and post-war legacy issues, such as the impact of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Vietnam.
She is currently president of the Tri Viet Institute for International Studies and Exchange under HCM City-based Ton Duc Thang University.
The order is the highest decoration in France and is conferred on individuals or organisations that have made special contributions to France and to relationships with France.
