Hanoi traffic police will consider the use of a net to stop motorbike racers, said senior lieutenant-colonel, Dao Vinh Thang, Head of the municipal Traffic Police Board.

Fishing nets for seizing racers successfully applied in Thanh Hoa Province.
Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested officials in Hanoi to use this technique, which has been successfully applied in Thanh Hoa Province.
According to senior lieutenant-colonel Dao Vinh Thang, in recent years Hanoi streets have witnesses fewer motorbike races, but added that the police would make an effort to prevent them during Tet.
Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has set a target for the city to reduce traffic accidents by at least 10% in 2013, and increase supervision of coaches, taxis and racing.
The Thanh Hoa police have used the net for dealing with racers since 2011. It works by throwing the net into the racers’ motorbike tire, and has helped to apprehend a number of racers, taking them off the streets.
There is also a gun that fires a net which police are considering putting into use.
